HitIQ is an early-stage company developing technology to revolutionise the detection, diagnosis and management of brain injury in sport. Our mission is to deliver deep personalised insights and advance athlete experience with leading-edge technology. Our technology consists of smart mouthguard, a cloud platform, a mobile/iPad app, a VR platform and machine learning systems. These systems are at the core of concussion diagnostic. HITIQ has already worked with Australian sport clubs, and is now building for international expansion. As a lead developer I get the chance to help build our client facing products with best practice principles throughout the full stack and the frontend applications. The skillset here varies day to day, and each challenge is a unique blend of hardware, web and gaming technologies. AWS, React, React-Native and Unity3D are my partners in crime to get the many jobs done. ABOUT OUR PRODUCT We’re making smart mouthguards that calculate and record head movements. The data are stored and analysed in our platform, allowing us to provide insights for athletes, predict the chance of concussion and alert the athletes in real time. The results are displayed in our mobile/iPad app as well as the platform. Our new VR technology will enable diagnostic clinical tests to be conducted in clubs and consequently facilitate the diagnostic process. There are so many improvements we’re looking to make so we can help more people. Show less

Working at DiUS exposed me to a number of frameworks and gave me the benefit of working alongside very experienced and skilled developers. Everything from consulting on Agile and the workflow processes through to full stack development following human centered design principles. Consulting is an excellent experience as your always working with new people and problems that look to test how much you know. At DiUS I ran a 3D special interest group where I promoted video game engine development (Unity3D, Unreal Engine) and emerging technologies in this area such as VR (Virtual Reality) and AR (Augmented Reality). My role at DiUS also was to investigate any solutions for our clients that might involve these technologies. One of the core working partners at DiUS at the time was REA Group. I spent a considerable amount of time at REA helping them build applications and products using 3D technologies within a Unity3D environment. I was proud to be involved in helping them get their realestateVR app to market for the Google Daydream platform, one of the first on the platform and in the VR market. It went on to win the 2017 CRN Customer Experience award. When working with other clients I have used a mixture of my skills but more often then not it has been web apps using AWS, Ruby, Node and other front end frameworks such as React. Show less

Developed a sports data API using PHP, MySQL, PHPUnit for unit testing then integrated across to Ruby on Rails, with full TDD using rspec. The system grabs XML from various sources, nursing it to our platform API to be used by our iPhone application. Constantly improving and developing the system. Agile dev with continuous integration (CI) and automated deployment on AWS. Currently a lot of work with Sinatra framework and getting my dev ops skills up.
