Recently I joined Ennov where my background in science R&D has been helpful to lend end-user insight for pharmacovigilance software development projects. Ennov’s customers include some of the biggest veterinary and human pharmaceutical companies in the world as well as GMP regulatory bodies such as the UK VMD. I’m new to the company, developing my SQL skills and having increasing contact with customers with the aim to become a software trainer this year. This year I have been working as an IT manager and CTO under multiple executives for a UK/US Texas-based biotech start-up. I’ve taken control of acquiring, deploying, and maintaining all of our hardware, software licenses, ELN, lab instruments and any other enterprise infrastructure as I see fit for business needs. I am available around the clock to remotely solve IT issues, take calls, and divert resources and information for international business needs. Primarily I support Aeris Biotech’s UK chairman with every detail of his daily work and facilitate smooth daily operations of international business. I assist by preparing notes, research and summaries ahead of time, then anticipating or troubleshooting any technical issues that arise. I also manage Office accounts with the Azure Active Directory, source, arrange, and purchase goods and services and handle deliveries, social media and create video content. In addition to this I have been preparing safety protocols and training documents for both lab and office staff to ensure safety and regulatory compliance. My current priority is to get compliant with ISO 27002 or NIST 800-53 by working with an external agency to assess our adherence to CIS controls. The work is not only technical but also cultural, pushing hard to drive adoption of better software solutions and best practices like 2FA and phishing awareness. Show less

I took a lead role on the development and implementation of bespoke laboratory inventory management and electronic lab notebook systems for SEAC (Safety and Environmental Assurance Centre). I also improved and automated existing instrument data-handling spreadsheets by using VBA macros to meet MHRA data integrity requirements. Prior to this, I worked as an Inhalation Toxicology apprentice where I designed and conducted novel simulated use exposure assessments for key stakeholders across all business categories. This required abstract thinking to “reverse engineer” principles of traditional animal exposure methods into modern ethical simulations. The results informed the safer design of novel prototype devices and personal care formulations. I routinely interfaced with marketeers, managers and consumers to design risk assessments for novel products and devices to GLP standards. For every 1 day spent in the lab there were 3 days of planning and reporting for scientific diligence, document control and sample custody. I condensed and conveyed scientific concepts to audiences of all level on lab tours, science talks, demo’s and visits for a wide range of audiences including university students, school children, government officials, PETA and the CEO Paul Polman. In 2012 I solidified my confidence with public speaking by delivering a speech to an audience of 200 senior scientists; a skill which later became essential for communicating ideas and improvements to seniors scientists on projects. I also trained contractors, outsourced novel methods of my own design, tested prototype instruments and worked with Cogent from the UK governments Sector Skills Council to visit schools, make videos, deliver talks and talk in interviews to increase awareness of apprenticeships in UK industry. I did this while studying my BSc in Applied Bioscience at the University of Kent part-time through distance learning. It took almost 8 years but it is my proudest life achievement. Show less
