  Researched new techniques to remove toxic ions from drinking water to help utilities around the US provide higher quality and safer drinking water to their communities. - Performed bench tests that focused on the removal of thallium from drinking water via absorption on precipitated manganese dioxide and ferric iron particles with removal through water filtration. - Analyzed data and created reports to show the effectiveness of each new water treatment technique. Special Project: Pilot Water Distribution System Palo, IA Built a small pilot water treatment system for the community of Palo, IA in order to determine the effectiveness of the removal of ammonia from their drinking water by nitrification via a biological approach.
