Within this role I have been seconded overseas on multiple occasions to deliver scheduled and reactive maintenance to a fixed wing fleet of Typhoon aircraft totaling upwards of £50m per aircraft. This involved managing all tooling and the provision of spares and consumables to ensure the serviceability of both aircraft and ground support equipment was maintained. Not only this, but I oversaw the accurate compilation of engineering documentation such as maintenance procedures and bespoke data capture software, which provides engineering managers direct forecast planning and oversight across the aircraft fleet.A team leader and supervisor of maintenance engineers; I had responsibility over a shift of 6 staff. Here I provided legal certification of all aspects of maintenance and covered the acceptance and vital stage checks of life saving equipment such as ejection seats and weapon system testing prior to sign off and aircraft handover to aircrew. This assurance has been pivotal in the direct delivery of the UK Air Defence deterrent that the Typhoon Quick Reaction Alert provides 24/7/365.Keen to highlight my adaptability, I have found new ways of working during the COVID pandemic, which has been testing at the best of times. Here, I have led teams, prioritising their safety while still proactively managing my own time, workload and the on-time completion of organisational targets, including maintenance regimes to meet operational flying programmes. • Engineering Maintainer (Electro-Mechanical)
      • Oct 2015 - Jan 2021

As an engineering maintainer, I have knowledge of the reverse supply chain as well as the provisioning of resources. In addition to this, I had to inspect all equipment/spares prior to fitment or integration within the aircraft. This was achieved through pre-fitment and interoperability testing as part of the fitting process. Only then would supervisors be able to sign-off the maintenance conducted. All testing was carried out through testing equipment such as No Vaults Test Sets, Safety Ohmmeters and specialist weapon test kits, bespoke to individual weapon systems. Here I was responsible for ensuring all notable tests were completed in order, and to the satisfaction of specific safe systems of work. Any failures during the testing phase were correctly documented and contingency arrangements made to rectify serviceability shortfalls.Dealing with aircraft weapon systems, explosive regulations applied whether this be in the UK or operating under a Host Nation’s laws. It was pivotal to not only comply with the Host’s laws but where any H&S policy fell short of UK standards, then the UK governance also applied. This was the case for explosive licensing arrangements where complying with minimum safe distances of weapons added a further complexity to conducting maintenance. This role has been an extremely busy and rapidly developing one at times. I have liaised with MoD stakeholders such as BAe Systems and Design/Delivery teams to ensure new capabilities were implemented in good time and results provided to allow for wider roll-out of innovative idea streams.
