I worked for Varley Hibbs between 2002 and 2012 in a variety of roles; since 2005 I worked in both the dispute resolution and corporate and commercial departments. The majority of my work involved providing commercial/contractual advice to clients, and helping clients to resolve disputes that arose from time to time. I found that operating "at both ends of the spectrum" was extremely useful when advising clients, in respect of both legal and practical/commercial considerations. I advised individuals and businesses, both locally and nationally, in respect of a range of commercial issues and provided pragmatic legal advice with a view to providing a cost effective, high quality service to clients. I acted for a number of clients in the IT industry advising in a range of matters including IT and IP law.I also worked closely with a local free legal advice centre, supporting the advisers who ran the centre by providing guidance on an array of legal issues. Supporting this service ensured that many people who would not otherwise be able to obtain access to legal advice were guaranteed access to justice.
