Includes two deployments to Bangladesh to support ActionAid's Rohingya response. In a resource mobilisation and coordination capacity I secured funding from the DEC (non-competitive), IOM, IRC, the Penny Appeal and the Valdese Foundation. Supported other countries with ECHO and UNHCR applications, as well as representing ActionAid at the global Food Security Cluster's (gFSC) twice yearly Partners meeting in Rome. I am currently one of the co-leads for the Preparedness and Resilience Working Group of the gFSC, leading on one of the work streams. Having successfully applied for internal ActionAid funds, I currently managing a project looking at how the Grand Bargain might be realised at country level through the implementation of five pilot projects. The evidence this has generated feeds into wider Grand Bargain discussions and policy spaces, as well as informing ActionAid's approach to the realisation of the Grand Bargain.

    • Humanitarian Funding Coordinator - Syria / Lebanon
      • May 2013 - Jun 2015

Over the course of sixteen months as the Humanitarian Funding Coordinator for Syria and Lebanon, I have worked to secure over US$44 million across more than thirty new contracts. These contracts have been awarded because of proposals written and coordinated by me. As part of these iterative processes I developed a body of content continually updated to reflect the changing context in Lebanon and Syria and Oxfam’s programmatic response to this. I have also played a key role in defining key themes in conjunction with colleagues, and ensuring that these are sufficiently emphasised throughout the proposal document. This includes developing log-frames and budgets to complement proposal narratives as part of a package submitted to the institutional / governmental donors I have worked with.

    • Regional Funding Coordinator - South Caucasus
      • Apr 2011 - May 2013

As Regional Funding Coordinator for the South Caucasus I was involved in numerous successful proposals including Oxfam’s Regional Food Security Proposal funded by the European Union. As a multi-country project I led on coordinating the inputs from Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, developing the budget, writing the narrative and log-frame, having previously written the approved concept note. I wrote four funding strategies in this role, based upon meetings with from 12 - 16 organisations in each country to firstly find out what their priorities were, and secondly to assess their suitability as donors and partners. In each of these meetings I presented (and represented) Oxfam’s programme, and as part of the funding strategy, developed a range of actions to be undertaken to further these nascent relationships. The relationship I am most proud of is that with the Austrian Development Agency (ADA). Based upon an initial meeting in Georgia with the ADA Representative and the subsequent submission of information about Oxfam’s programs in the region we were invited to submit a proposal for a rural livelihoods project in Armenia. After an iterative process involving the development of the proposal, feedback, and further development Armenia was awarded a three year contract for 750,000 euro for agricultural development in the north of the country. This was the first time Oxfam as an organisation had accessed ADA funding. Other tasks included the resolution of contract management issues, reporting and research.

    • Assistant Funding Coordinator (EC / UK institutions)
      • Apr 2004 - Mar 2011

In terms of external engagement I have met with numerous local partner organisations. This includes meeting with ten local partners in Cambodia and facilitating a two day workshop with their participation within the context of an EU Governance proposal. The same tactful and inquisitive approach was used with education practitioners on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines, where I conducted multiple interviews and other data gathering activities as the basis for a successful EU proposal written by me. This proposal was for education in an insecure environment. I am adept at sourcing information from a range of sources such as these and articulating this in a way that is attractive to the donor / client. Another notable example includes my posting to Angola to finalise a proposal to be submitted to the European Union. This involved learning about HIV/AIDs in a post conflict setting and when funded, it was the largest EU contract received by Oxfam GB at Euro 4.1 million. I am a quick learner and would relish the opportunity to adapt to a new body of knowledge and to learn new skills.
