  • Completed an intensive suite of trade training programs and took up a key operations management role on HMAS Yarra and HMAS Gascoyne. • Responsible for business planning, operations center management, human resources, risk management, training, resource supervision, compliance and management reporting. • Led a team of operations center specialists with the mandate to operate complex electronic equipment and produce a consolidated intelligence “picture” for the Managing Director and senior management staff. • Managed day to day activities within the operations center including being the Operations Room Yeoman (during which time, I was awarded a Commanding Officers Commendation). • Acted as a Duty Operations Manager, supervising shift-workers and overseeing all aspects of operations including administration and planning, communication, resource management, emergency response and operational scenarios. • Trained staff in a broad spectrum of technical and leadership skills and assessed professional aptitude in a competency based work environment. • Acted as the defacto Human Resources Manager, coaching, counseling and mentoring staff at all levels to develop subordinates leadership skills and technical expertise. • Contributed to high level operational planning as a member of the management team and represented the team at weekly management meetings. • Demonstrated an ability to remain calm and think clearly under significant pressure when lives were at risk. • Provided technical advice to senior executives on operational capabilities. • Managed boarding parties from an operations perspective and provided support to the Australian government, patrolling Australian territorial waters. • Worked in confined spaces, operated at height and used specialist equipment and emergency apparatus, including breathing systems. • Worked as a member of the Ship’s Firefighting team and gained significant exposure to management of various types of fires.
