Conserve Global (www.conserveglobal.earth) has been established by a team of committed conservation professionals to tackle the escalating crisis of vacant and neglected wildlife concessions in Africa. These areas comprise 66% of sub-Saharan Africa's protected area estate but with the steep decline of the hunting industry many now lie unmanaged and economically fallow and are therefore highly vulnerable to being degazetted or degraded. Not only will this have severe consequences for ecosystem function and landscape connectivity but will also impact very negatively on many rural communities whose livelihoods are inextricably linked to the land. The aim, therefore, is for Conserve to rapidly emerge as a solution to this crisis by securing key concessions and delivering the necessary management effectiveness to secure landscape integrity and ecosystem function whilst simultaneously unlocking value for the benefit of local people. Conserve's vision is an Africa where wilderness and its constituent biodiversity is effectively secured and recognised as a valuable public good, both in Africa and the world as a whole, by fulfilling its potential to provide enduring benefits to humanity.
