I had the pleasure of working with Matt as both a peer and manager developing curriculum at Lambda School (now BloomTech) and wholeheartedly recommend him as a great person to work with. Matt is hard-working, super organized, and as an educator he takes his responsibility to learners very seriously. Its rare to find someone who can move so seamlessly between detailed, technical conversations about code and education best practices while maintaining a really high quality bar in both, but Matt does it and makes it look easy. As a manager, I could trust that Matt would go above and beyond expectations with any assignment he was given. During our time working together he was charged with an incredibly difficult and extremely high priority task of creating an entire backend curriculum that would fit into a short time frame, and ensure graduates were of the highest caliber possible. Matt quickly jumped into learning mode, investigating new technologies for himself and conducting research with industry experts to synthesize and deliver an entire course plan complete with timelines for execution which he then went on to preform with great success for our company. Beyond his technical skills, Matt is just a wonderful person to work with and would make a great contribution to any team. He is thoughtful and opinionated about his work and pushes others to achieve excellence with grace. This energy is contagious and drove our whole team to be better. Ultimately, our team and product would not have been successful without him.

Matt McCarley is one of my favorite people I have worked with in my career. Matt has a great combination of program management, communication, and leadership skills that I could see in action daily as we worked closely together at Lambda School. As the Program Design Lead for our Enterprise Backend Development Track, Matt showcased his adeptness in program management by partnering with our outcomes teams, instructional design teams, and our external partner on the project, Amazon, to research, design, and execute a strategic curriculum roadmap. The roadmap and subsequent project management were all augmented by Matt's skills in communication. Everything at Lambda School was fully remote across global time zones, which could create barriers for other managers. However, Matt would kindly dictate all the needs of his teams while also hitting deadlines on a very stressful project and shortened timelines. Matt is a natural leader due to his genuine approach to people and problem-solving. Matt's leadership style was building out the example first and then coaching his team to succeed after they knew what "good" looked like. I admire Matt's ability to speak his mind when he feels something is amiss or doesn't add up. Matt would demonstrate leadership by asking hard questions because he cared deeply about the work. Matt is an organizer, a listening ear, and leads by example. He's a boon on any team I have worked with, and I hope to work with him again. I highly recommend Matt as a top team member and friend!
