The TLG program had volunteer English teachers go and live with a host Georgian family in a remote village and working alongside a local English teacher to develop classes for students aged 7-13. I thus helped teach nearly 50 students English, ranging from children in the first grade who could barely write letters to those in the seventh grade who were able to carry on a conversation, albeit limited. Outside of the classroom I also worked with several students in a club, where I utilised games to further develop language skills. I also taught my host family, specifically the daughter, who went from a timid speaker with limited vocabulary when I arrived to able to hold a proper conversation with me, and able to smoothly translate between Georgian and English speakers on the spot.
