Employed on a fixed term contract to complete two Research & Development projects. - The construction and coding of an Inventor 2014 based 3 dimensional modelling tool to allow for the accurate calculation of refractory weights at the initial design phase. - Assess the current company standard roof steel work design and propose an alternative in order to save weight and decrease overall design and installation time. - Resulted in an alternative design being successfully shown to save 27% and 49% for 130 ton and 83 ton capacity furnace roofs respectively. - Total design phase time was reduced from 4 weeks to around 4 days. - Extensive use of FEA, AutoCAD and hand calculations. Midshipman RNR

Whilst at University I joined Wales University Royal Naval Unit (WURNU) where I held the rank of Midshipman (Honorary) within the Royal Naval Reserve. - Acted as the Marine Engineering Officer’s assistant throughout my time at WURNU. - Requested to return back to the unit for a 4th year to teach navigation and seamanship to new and returning students. - Represented the Royal Navy at Kiel International Naval Festival, Germany. Organised and hosted at high profile events on behalf of the British Embassy. - Deployed with the ship on a number of 3 week deployments to various foreign locations. Representing the high standards and values of the Royal Navy at all times. - Senior Midshipman whilst on deployment. I was in charge of the day to day running, training and welfare of the midshipman and officer cadet cohort of the ships company. - Elected to the position of Sports Captain, in charge of the day to day running of 8 different sports teams. - Selected to play for Dartmouth RFC at representative level for both the 7 and 15 a side rugby teams.
