My job role consists of making sure that all computers in the Language department of the school are functioning correctly. I show and help staff to make full use of the Sanako language lab and digital recording devices. My long term projects are creating a database of resources for teachers and improving and maintaining the languages intranet site using FROG. During the summers I helped set up and connect computers to the school network. During my twelve weeks at WTG I learnt to program OO php instead of procedural php. I became much more efficient using HTML, CSS, Photoshop, MySQL and JavaScript. My debugging skills also improved significantly. Some of the jobs I carried out were creating content zones, displaying videos, creating new booking fees, replacing logos and creating new pages. I also made a variety of other changes and amendments to various sites. During my twelve weeks at WTG I learnt to program OO php instead of procedural php. I taught Spanish to travel and tourism students at Chelmsford College. I found this challenging, but very rewarding to be able to pass on some of my knowledge and passion I have for the Spanish language and Hispanic culture. While working in Calama I gave various presentations to all of the classes at the Inacap University where I worked. I spoke to the students about the UK, Great Britain, England, Europe, sport, tourism, gastronomy etc. On various occasions throughout the year I taught classes as the principal teacher. Other times I taught with other teachers often splitting the classes into two groups. This experience made me aware of the vast differences between Castilian Spanish and the Spanish spoken in Latin American countries. Show less

Assistant Orthopaedic Technician
-
Apr 2002 - Jun 2004
Having left school I joined a cadet scheme at Broomfield hospital seeking a job in the NHS. After a few months I successfully applied to work as an assistant orthopedic technician. This job involved creating customized insoles, adapting footwear and fitting various appliances to in and out patients such as soft neck collars, aircast boots and knee braces. I found working in the Surgical Appliances department rewarding as I enjoyed and felt good about helping others and taking pride in my work.
