Bertil Nordenstam

Matt Buys - an excellent South African botanist I know Matt Buys from several years of fruitful collaboration and also personal encounters. I can safely state that he is an excellent taxonomist and field botanist, with a thorough knowledge of South African flora in general, and with an outstanding expertise on the families of Boraginaceae and Mesembryanthemaceae. While curator of the AP Goossens Herbarium, Matt brought about strategic changes and upgrades to the herbarium and its management practices. The current facilities at the herbarium positioned it well in the new millenium to conduct competitive research in systematic botany.
