Stripe Express and general Connect guru. Hosted Connect experiences and security are my jams, and surprisingly great user experiences across the company are my goal. I worked to instill a culture of security, performance, and UX best practices across Box as a whole. I also worked on developing and patenting bleeding-edge technologies for progressive enhancement on the web and improving developer workflow. My 20% time was spent working on leveraging distributed systems to create new ways for users to collaborate, and exploring desktop technologies like Electron to enhance existing Box products. In 2014, I open sourced Brainy, a security and performance-focused fork of the Smarty templating engine for PHP. Brainy vastly improves the performance and security properties of Smarty through a virtually complete rewrite of the PHP compiler. Brainy serves as the only templating engine used at Box in production (at the time of writing). In 2015, I open sourced Shalam: a Node-powered tool for making it easy to build Retina-friendly CSS sprite sheets without burdening developers. Shalam attempts to maximize the use of space in the sprites it creates, and removes unreferenced assets---an near-universal issue with other tools. A patent for the novel techniques used by Shalam has been filed, and the tool is used by all of Box's front-end developers at the time of writing. Show less

At Mozilla, I developed the framework that powered all of the Firefox Marketplace-related properties' front ends. I ushered the transition of the Addons and Marketplace teams into an API/SOA-driven model. Through Widgetbox, I'd built over 30 web widgets. For the summer of 2009, I interned at their headquarters in San Francisco. As of 2010, my widgets had accumulated a total of over 300,000,000 impressions. Through Widgetbox, I'd built over 30 web widgets. I developed PHP websites and blogs. Most of my work revolved around Wordpress, though I did branch off into integration with Yahoo! Stores. I developed PHP websites and blogs. Most of my work revolved around Wordpress, though I did branch off into integration with Yahoo! Stores.
