As fermentation technician I run batch fermentations as part of a 4 man team, preparing and operation fermentors from 5 to 6000 L. The role also includes planning of production, reagent preparation, product assaying, documentation, and data collection. Another important part of the role is root cause analysis of production issues, troubleshooting and resolution of mechanical, biological and logistical challenges. This knowledge is then use in corrective action, staff training, and process development. As fermentation technician I also work closely together with maintenance, planning, logistics, Q.A. and R&D to ensure optimum production yields, time management, and how to ensure optimal use of time, equipment, materials and manpower.
