Ford Transit TPV Program. (TPV stands for Technology Proving Vehicle)The scope of the program was to design and produce a road worthy prototype vehicle that utilises carryover upperbody parts from parent program, a completely new platform and designing of about 50 new bridging parts to make upperbody compatible with new platform. I was responsible for leading the engineering of the BIW Upperbody and bridging parts from initial concept phase to prototype build.I have listed down some of the major responsibilities here:Initial concept development for upperbody and bridging parts.Various layout studies conducted and came up with a decision on carryover, modified and completely new parts.Prepared Master BOM to capture the complete BIW content from sub assy level to part level.Master sections and Joint definitions created that comply with various targets like formability, crash, stiffness, packaging etc.Conducted material selection reviews and made a decision on most appropriate material specification for each part.Prepared CAD instructions and worked closely with CAD team in Ford Turkey to develop CAD structure, spot weld layout, adhesive coverage, sealing, NVH baffles etc.Prepared RFQs and supported sourcing plan.Reviewed datum strategies for each part & sub-assemblies and agreed with manufacturing.Worked closely with CAE team to meet performance targets like Stiffness, safety targets durability tetc.Conducted full body sealing studies and came up with a plan for structural adhesives, sealants, NVH baffles, Plugs, sealing patches, stiffeners, dampeners etc.Fastener selection. Reviewed Homologation related items with relevant teams and agreed a plan before tooling kick off.Developed BIW assembly sequencing and agreed with Pilot plant.Acted on concerns from build and gave solutions instantaneously to avoid any build delays.
