Founder and Chief Engineer. I designed the overall architecture of the Airliner flight software framework and the Commander ground system. I created the test vehicle kernel and the Airliner/Commander build system. I wrote much of the level flight software driver code, and most of the back end of the Commander ground system. I also work on several customer projects as a software engineer and consultant. Founder and Chief Engineer. Technical lead for the Core Flight Software (CFS) ARINC 653 port and human rating certification. Ported CFS to Greenhills DO178b ARINC 653 operating system running on a Honeywell/Boeing 787 Flight Control Module. Updated Core Flight Software framework for compliance with human rated software standards. Completed NASA Class A flight software human rated certification testing. Developed an encrypted Iridium satellite communication system for both the flight software as well as the ground segment using Short Burst Data (SBD) transceivers with low gain omni directional antennas so they were small enough to fit on a drone. This was for the NASA EVA Scout drone project. The project created a flight vehicle that could autonomously identify a landing sight and land safely. The vehicle was demonstrated to land safely in a rock yard for NASA and DoD stakeholders. Ported Video Processing Unit (VPU) flight software to CFS. Created build system, Rhapsody integration, and simulation integration of the new VPU flight software. Wrote initial CFS application to connect VPU flight software to the vehicle network. Created the initial Camera Controller kernel, development environment, and build system. Wrote initial application to interface with the image processing software. Created a Xenomai Linux Operating System Abstraction Layer for NASA Core Flight Software to support NASA efforts for expanding the use of CFS. Supported the Advanced Exploration Systems program, porting sophisticated guidance and navigation algorithms to experimental computing platforms. Wrote the SpaceLab for iOS iPhone application for use on the International Space Station. Led preparation of two iPhone 4's for launch about STS-135. Wrote crew procedures for an on-orbit experiment using the iPhone's as inexpensive avionics platforms. Show less

Lead the development of a sophisticated file system used for human space flight on Orion Exploration Flight Test 1. The flash file system was one fault tolerant and provided recording for both Operational Flight Instrumentation as well as several high rate HD video streams. Not a single bit of data was lost from the EFT-1 flight despite several single event upsets due to the radiation rich environment.
