Oversee efficient logistical coordination for a student debate program. Work with teacher/coaches and BAUDL program staff for team recruitment. Build strong relationships with students to improve retention and development. Maintain contact with student, coaches/teachers and community stakeholders for programing announcements and community coordination. Create and distribute incentives for students and teams for participation and excellence. Make sure debate teams are organized, students are aware of upcoming events, and students are registered for tournaments/workshops/camp in a timely manner. For the total of two weeks during the summer, I was to co-instruct a group of urban high school “at risk” students teaching cross examination policy debate. Together another co-lab leader and I were required to coach and teach the proper debate techniques and skills while, motivating students to remain within debate. I was to create a curriculum and lesson plans that centered on keeping students motivated and interested about debate.
