I was very lucky to be Mateusz’s manager when he joined TomTom. He has an incredible maturity that goes well beyond his years, allowing him to be adaptable to new situations, environments and challenges. As well as being a very structured and organised individual, he displays very acute emotional intelligence which sees him integrate incredibly well to large and small teams alike. Within our larger team of around 30 analysts, Mateusz was quickly well respected and well liked. Although being one of the newer members of the group, he took only a short time to become familiar with his surroundings before feeling comfortable enough to see the opportunity to make/do things better and was never afraid to speak up when required. He also has a great calming influence on others, using his skills and his calm nature to settle groups where necessary. During our 1 to 1’s, it became clear that personal development is also a strength of Mateusz. He is able to analyse his performance rationally, and although tending towards being slightly too harsh in himself, he can set clear goals/paths towards improving his performance and developing himself. His technical ability was a perfect example of this, coming in to an IT position from a retail environment, he felt lacking in a technical sense - but set to work on this and quickly became very competent in this area and working towards even more advanced areas such as programming. Mateusz is not only a hard working and excellent employee during office hours but also hard working and balanced individual outside of the office. I could not recommend him highly enough for practically any position, it’s clear that he could adapt to and succeed in whatever he sets his mind to.
