CW Imports was founded by myself and my friend Alexander Cameron based on that most dangerous and motivating question, "How hard can it be?".Some time later we've learned that the challenges are both more numerous and more interesting than expected. Being a small team with no previous experience feeling our way through the world of import regulations, tariff codes and EORI numbers was intimidating but once our first import arrived we knew it had been worth the effort.Of course we made many mistakes, had to pick ourselves up after entering the wrong market at the wrong time. We've learned a lot along the way and supported our other interests by in effect vertically integrating our company into our hobbies. Our largest challenge is to spend less time taking about if electro-phosphorescence shouldn't be on a different tariff from LEDs because the underlying physics is different and more time exploring the market.

After many years of building unity projects for my own amusement I decided to try and develop a VR game in full. At first I attempted to take a simulation I had built to investigate the effect of the most rudimentary elements of memory on the reproductive success of E. coli and build that out into a fuller game, but the events of the past years made that seem miss-timed. I have since pivoted to building a Beat Saber inspired endless runner. As this project is primarily intended as a learning experience, I take the somewhat saturated market as a richness of examples rather than overabundant competition.

In this capacity I carried out various analyses and research tasks. These typically include gathering data from across data bases, legal documents and regulatory environments in various languages and synthesising models. The data from these is then utilised by larger teams carrying out further analysis. Examples of this work include the technical translation and extraction of requested information from land and use contracts from Dutch, German and French to English. This work required a substantial understanding of various renewable energy regulatory and tariff schemes. I also provided some minor materials corrosion support on this contract.Using both data provided by the greater analysis team and further data gathered from databases and research paper I created a Python analysis (primarily pandas/numpy) to predict the future state of energy use and home heating technology uptake across England, Scotland and Wales under a variety of scenarios diverging from the UK governments Future Energy Scenarios 2020.As an example of a research support task, I collected, read, summarised and prioritised papers and other literature relating to the design of a survey to be used in prioritising investments and repairs on large scale infrastructure.

While working within Julian R. Jones' research group I explored many avenues for tackling the problems of Osteo-Regenerative materials design. Beginning with calcium containing phosphate sol-gel glasses and eventually developing, manufacturing and testing custom calcium bearing polymers for the task.Over this work I collaborated with teams from across the world, as well as presenting my work at conferences from Ireland to China. I developed broad technical and analytical skills and an expertise in bringing those skills to bear providing materials and analysis for collaborating partners.
