I led the Corn Bunting Recovery Project in East Scotland across Aberdeenshire, Angus and Fife.I gained experience in project management and delivery (i.e. Biodiversity Challenge Fund), data collation and analysis and GIS mapping. I worked closely with land managers (i.e. farmers, estate owners, golf courses etc.) carrying out advisory visits and learning about farming systems, habitat creation and management and ecology of farmland birds in Scotland. I also coordinated and recruited new volunteers, written technical reports and supported the Communications team. Show less

I delivered a wide range of practical conservation work to protect and enhance the conservation status of both an estate (Cliveden) and an open countryside (Maidenhead & Cookham Commons) properties. At the same time, I attended theoretical and practical modules of a College Course in Countryside Management Level 2, which has allowed me to get a firm grasp of the current legislation and natural history in the UK. I co-led the London & South East Nature Monitoring Project Pilot across my portfolio. This entailed the organization and realization of vegetation surveys of priority habitats, namely lowland calcareous grasslands and traditional orchards, aiding the Trust in tracking our work to restore a healthy, beautiful and natural environment. Additionally, I took on the role of GIS champion for the London and South East Region, and I liaised with other conservation organizations and partook into other surveys and conservation activities like: bats surveys and trappings (Berkshire & South Buckinghamshire Bat Group), bird boxes installation (Bisham Barn Owl Nest Boxes Group), and dormice monitoring scheme set up (East Berkshire Mammal Group). I also experienced working with the rangers team on the Farne Islands to experience the National Trust's mission of protection and preservation of the habitat for seabirds. Furthermore, I acquired extensive experience in managing the volunteers and I was able to engage with visitors, also in challenging situations, to ensure they would understand the value of my work. I led several events, including activities for kids and guided walks (bats and wildflower). Show less

I supported all aspects of work on the RSPB's largest reserve in the UK, mainly covered by blanket bog. I carried out moorland, farmland and breeding bird surveys, raptor watches, common scoter and black-/red-throated divers counts, hydrological and ecological monitoring of restored areas. I also assisted with the two Conservation Science research projects on the reserve: (i) the Common Scoter and Trout management trial, and (ii) the Forest to Bog restoration project. For these projects, I carried out vegetation and invertebrate surveys, and I partook into the collection and sorting of freshwater invertebrate. I also assisted with the visitor operations delivery at Forsinard: meeting and greeting visitors, guided walks, membership recruitment, and trail and infrastructure maintenance. Show less

I improved a water scarcity warning system based on the application of the Water Scarcity Index to the mountainous portion of the Brenta river basin (North-east Italy). This was developed in the framework of the European project "C3-Alp: capitalising climatic change knowledge for adaptation in the alpine space". My main duties included analyzing large hydrological datasets, carrying out spatial analyses on GIS softwares, attending meetings and working collaboratively with other partners involved in the project such as Veneto Region and ARPAV, namely the institution for the environmental prevention and protection of the Veneto Region.
