I was given the opportunity to work with the university's rugby and fencing teams as well as the student orchestra. Work with the rugby consisted of attending trainings to engage in workshops with the players who were suffering from injury. Players felt they had loss their identity within the team so helping them reframe their outlook and their role within the team during the injury was our main goal. Most of my work in fencing was with a an elite level fencer who is highly ranked for Team GB. The main issue focused on was her internal dialogue which was hindering her performance and keeping her in a threat state of mind instead viewing competitions as a challenge. The conductor was the focus of my work with the student orchestra. We focused on strategies which looked at keeping the energy high during rehearsal and how to maintain focus as a group. Self-regulation was a key teaching for the conductor in order for him to monitor himself and focus on external aspects about his performance rather than focusing internally. Show less

    • Physical Therapy Aide/Personal Trainer
      • Aug 2016 - Aug 2017

As a physical therapy aide, I assisted patients through their rehabilitation programs and helped create new, effective ways to enhance their recovery and experience. As lead physical therapy aide I was in charge of the other aides in terms of training and directing aides to work with certain patients in order to accommodate their needs. The majority of the clients who come to Specialized Fitness are of clinical populations (i.e. osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, COPD, etc.). Other clients include those who had recently finished up their physical therapy sessions and wished to continue a form of training (under the physical therapist's supervision) after their knee or hip replacement for example. My responsibility as a personal trainer for these populations was to help reduce symptoms and to maintain/increase muscle strength, endurance as well as cardiorespiratory fitness and endurance. Focusing on functionality and exercise capacity was a huge component of my clients regimen in order to make daily activities less strenuous. Show less
