  While at the Northfield library I worked in circulation which used Follet's Destiny. My role also included Public Outreach. I learned opening and closing procedures, updated the library’s website, helped patrons to access and use the computers, posted event information and photos I’d taken to the library’s facebook page, created flyers and press releases for events using Word, created contacts and sign-up sheets using Excell, helped to plan and carry out events (including ordering within a budget), moderated member meetings and gave a poetry workshop for Stockton University. In addition, I’ve owned and operated a family style restaurant, taught grades K through 8 in NJ, worked as a certified Home Health Care Aid, trained with ARC of Atlantic County, and was Personal Assistant to Kay & Mac Seelig of AC Coin & Slot Company and Globe Vending. I also wrote and managed distribution of advertising and promotional materials for the first professional basketball Association in Liverpool, England. My continuous work within the literary community as a poetry workshop leader, poetry reading host, listserve moderator for Murphywriting Seminars, and poet who reads at professional venues, has given me extensive experience in performing and working directly with the public. These combined experiences include supervisors, administrators, suppliers, peers, customers, patients, employees, children, and parents. I created and maintained a personal web site for my poetry as well as for the restaurant, edited a literary journal for three consecutive years, designed and created menus, restaurant ads and advertising for poetry events, maintained, documented and recorded information including budgets, employee schedules, payroll records, expense reports, data entry information, spreadsheet use for profit and loss statements, business plans etc. I am familiar with various computer programs and easily learn to interact with unfamiliar computer programs/systems.   As a restaurant owner/operator, school teacher for Saint Peter's School and substitute teacher for the Egg Harbor Township School district in NJ, and as a poetry workshop leader, poetry reading host, listserve moderator for Murphywriting Seminars, and a poet who reads at professional venues, I have extensive experience working with supervisors, administrators, suppliers, peers, customers, employees, children, and parents. I've established and maintained many interpersonal relationships, performed day-to-day administrative tasks, compiled, coded, categorized, calculated, tabulated, audited and verified information and data, evaluated information to determine compliance with standards for both the educational system and the restaurant (fire compliance codes, fire and health inspections, labor laws, etc.), developed specific goals and plans, prioritized, organized and accomplished my work. I've coordinated the work and activities of others including getting members of groups to work together to achieve desired goals and accomplish tasks. I've analyzed information and evaluated the results to choose the best solutions to solve many problems including complaints and disputes and I've negotiated resolutions to resolve grievances and conflicts with others. This includes interpreting the meaning of information, explaining it in a way that it could be understood by others, and motivating them to put the information to use. Show less
