Mary has been one of The Pines Catholic Camp's most valuable assets over the past three years. Her dedication to and passion for the kids is nothing short of admirable. She utilized her artistic talent to stretch her job description's boundaries, and she was ultimately rewarded with a coordinator position. Mary's commitment to the mission extends well past her summer employment, as she still donates projects that directly benefit The Pines. Her moral and professional character is top-notch, and she was a true pleasure to work with.

I taught 9-12th grade courses including Art 1, Ceramics, and Sculpture, and I served as a facilitator with Dallas College with students enrolled in ARTS 1301 Dual Credit Art Appreciation. During my time as a classroom teacher, I also mastered the use of Canvas LMS for delivery of virtual and hybrid material for students and other adults on campus. I also created many job aids for students as instructional materials related to processes and topics in the classroom. As part of Verizon Innovative Schools (VILS), I spent two years on the Teacher Leader Team (TLT) at my campus, with two other teachers and our Digital Learning Coach (DLC). Much of my time on this team was devoted to helping other teachers learn to utilize technology in a blended and hybrid classroom. We piloted the Canvas LMS as COVID happened on our campus, and we worked to help teachers close the learning gap in using that platform for both remote and in-person learners. From May to August of 2010 and 2011, I served as a missionary in East Texas to kids ages 7-17. Camp ministry is highly relational and provides a unique opportunity for God to work in students' lives. The goal is to lead campers to an encounter with Christ and empower them to continue a relationship with Him as they return home. This role had a big emphasis on teaching through connections and relationships -- in knowing our campers, we were able to share what we wanted them to learn. Cast Member at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Café in the Magic Kingdom (Aug-Jan) and at the Magic of Disney Animation attraction at Hollywood Studios (Jan-May). I intended to find a full time position in set and environmental design and install with the Walt Disney Company, but after networking with a local contractor, I learned that much of their creative production work is outsourced to local companies. This redirected me back to my home state of Texas.
