I served as a graduate mentor for Maryam Bassiri for nearly 4 years during her undergraduate career. Maryam assisted me with my graduate work and she immediately struck me for her mindfulness, ability to communicate clearly, and desire to learn. While many of her peers performed well without question, Maryam not only showed quick proficiency in tasks she was assigned, but she yearned to understand the bigger picture. Toward the end of her undergraduate career Maryam became one of my most trusted mentees and a joy to work with.
