Curatorial Researcher

Feb 2023 - Present
As Curatorial Researcher with the National Museum of Ireland - Irish Antiquities Division, I work on the preparation of the Museum's proposed exhibition of early medieval Irish art with a particular loan of manuscripts from Stiftsbibliothek St Gallen. I work on developing a list of objects for display as well as creating exhibition themes with the project team. While based at Kildare Street, I undertake research in libraries and archives around Dublin as well as around Ireland. I work with the line manager and Keeper of Irish Antiquities to undertake the day-to-day research of the exhibition and work with the Principal Curator to research manuscripts from the Stiftsbibliothek St Gallen and relevant objects from the NMI's collection for display. I liaise with colleagues across all relevant departments to ensure that exhibition deadlines are met, facilitate the photography of objects, and act as secretary for the expert advisory committee. I develop exhibition text and labels for objects used in the exhibition, assist in the creation of design briefs for various service providers, liaise with contractors, and ensure that files on all aspects of the exhibition are maintained. I will respond to queries and facilitate groups visiting the Museum in connection with the exhibition. Additionally, I undertake tasks at the Collections Resource Centre which involves object handling, on occasion. Show less
