While I was a student at UCLA, I worked nights and weekends at this slightly up-scale restaurant in West L.A. My primary position was as the restaurant hostess, scheduling and seating guests and on weekends my secondary position was serving cocktails in the restaurant lounge. Kitchen Aide and then promoted to Assistant Chef
-
Jul 1972 - Aug 1974
I worked at a Catholic girls summer camp in the summertime (July-August) in 1972, 1973 and 1974. In my first year working there I was a Kitchen Aide (setting the dinning room tables, dishwashing and other sundry kitchen tasks). After my first summer working at the camp, they took notice of me and promoted me to Assistant Chef (which I accepted) and worked in that position for the next 2 summers assisting the camp chef in the preparations and planning of all meals. My favourite part of these positions was that I had a lot of free time between meal preparation/serving and was able to assist the other camp counselors in some of my other passsions.... - swimming: I had a Senior life-guard certification so I was well equipped to help out at the pool with swimming lessons, especially when special needs girls attending the camp required more attention - horseback riding: although I'm not an expert horse woman, horses seem to have an affinity to me and I was able to assist those camp counselors and work with the girls who were afraid of the horses. you can call me the 'horse-whisperer - canoeing -I canoed across three of the chain lakes in the Adironicks in one afternoon. - archery - not an expert (not Olympian quality), but quite proficient non-the-less. I could hit the bulls-eye on occasion. these were my favourite summers and I grew acquainted with many of the surrounding farm folks. very enlightening summers indeed! Show less
