Mary Koss, PhD, is co-editor a two book series for the American Psychological Association, Violence Against Women and Children (2011). She served on the National Academy of Sciences Panel on Violence Against Women and the Coordinating Committee of the Sexual Violence Research Initiative based in Johannesburg, South Africa. She consults nationally with the Gallup Organization on sexual assault prevalence and response in the military justice system. Among her completed projects is the Ten Tribes Study, which examined alcohol problems and violence among enrolled tribal members residing on tribal lands. She was also the principal investigator of the RESTORE Program, a restorative justice option for selected sex crimes among adults. Research focus broadly includes epidemiology of sexual violence, with emphasis on measuring violence against women cross-culturally, restorative justice, violence prevention programs and program evaluation, and national and international violence policy.
