Retired from a varied teaching career most recently in the DOE in NYC, I have devoted my translating talents and energies to the works of the eminent French historian, Simone Bertière. In January 2014 her publisher, les Editions de Fallois, brought out my translation of her ground-breaking biography "The Indomitable Marie-Antoinette." This was Monsieur de Fallois' first publication in English. My PhD thesis "A Translation of and Introduction to Louis-Ferdinand Céline's 'Féerie pour une autre fois'" was published by the Nebraska University Press in 2003 under the title "Fable for Another Time." It received the 2004 Modern Language Association's first prize for the translation of a literary work. My late husband Jack Holland's last book "Misogyny: The World's Oldest Prejudice" was originally slated to be published under the title "Contempt: A Brief History of Misogyny" by Viking, but they broke their contract when Jack died. It was subsequently brought out by Constable and Robinson and is now in five languages, including Persian, with a translation slated in Chinese. Show less
