As the English Department's leader of twenty-three teachers at a Jesuit college prep of over 2,000 students, I ensure Loyola Academy's curriculum delivery of this discipline to all students for four full years. I provide professional development to my teachers all year through a continual cycle of observing and meeting them, based on individually set academic goals and on the established domains of Charlotte Danielson. I plan and preside over a series of monthly departmental meetings in which teachers address purposeful academic issues and depart ready to proactively provide students a rigorous learning environment in which they can be challenged and successful. All this and more to which the department subscribes, roots in the Ignatian secondary educational tradition which is over four hundred years old. Show less
