My responsibilities include instructing a diverse population of students in developmental writing.I create syllabi and develop alternative course structures that promote retention and success. I also teach in a variety of delivery formats including sixteen-week, late-start, hybrid and online courses. In my years as a probationary faculty, I have served on a district-wide committee to revise the developmental English competencies, worked as the English assessment coordinator, and currently serve as the developmental lead for English. Taught a 10-week intensive business English program (IEP) for non-native speakers applying to Thunderbird or other graduate business programs. The Intensive English Program provided participants with the skills, tools and confidence to communicate effectively in a business English environment. Worked with clients interested in increasing their ability to communicate and conduct business effectively across countries and cultures. Led a 2-week refresher program that provided practical, business-oriented language training in a small group environment. Responsible for all aspects of program development including recruitment and retention of participants, program assessment, and fiscal grant management. Wrote curriculum integrating ESL theory with industry-standards for healthcare. Provided training to local school districts in the areas of curriculum adaptation, second language acquisition, and the adult learner.
