During the summer internship of the Armenian National Committee of America - Western Region, I was honored to be part of a new initiative called "Duty to Prevent (D2)" - a project aimed at preventing future atrocities and crimes against humanity by raising awareness and educating the Armenian-American community, the larger public and the elected officials at local, state, and federal levels about Armenophobia as a phenomenon, its manifestations, various other hateful ideologies and the corresponding historical background. Believing in the importance of the success of this new project, I have accepted to stay as a research associate on a voluntary basis to contribute to the project outside the framework of ANCA-WR internship. Most of my duties involve gathering and analyzing data, evidence and historical facts, researching relevant topics, drafting reports and assisting the D2P team with other related tasks.

The ANCA Western Region Internship Program is a selective part-time leadership program, which introduces college students and recent college graduates to all aspects of the public affairs arena. The program provides an opportunity for student leaders and activists to gain an in-depth understanding of the American political system, Armenian-American issues and advocacy efforts on the local, state and federal levels.Interns gain experience in non-profit management, government affairs, community organizing and education, communication, media, and planning and executing events. In addition to individual and joint projects, interns participate in workshops featuring a variety of guest speakers including public officials, ANCA leadership, and specialists from the community.
