When I think about Martin the first-word comes in my mind is "Genuine expert". I rarely come across real talents who stand out like Martin. I had the pleasure of working with Martin in Unipart, collaborating on our journey for ISO certifications. I was in finance and was given a project for ISO Certifications. Martin stepped in to help me and make this journey so easy for me. No matter how tense a meeting was with auditors, Martin made sure everyone left with a smile. Martin earns my highest recommendation.

As way of background we had a NZ based contract which was in stress. The company that we were providing maintenance and asset management services for was itself in a state of stress and attempting to transform to survive. Add to this a workforce who were fast losing faith with both their employer and the customer and a challenging relationship between us and the customer and you will have an idea of how challenging the environment was. Structured Change in the form of Martin Kerr took on the Contract Management role for a period of 6 months. In this time the relationship with the customer was stabilised by demonstrating that it was understood what value was in their terms and then activiely contributing and collaborating to support their transformation initiative to achieve it. In parallel trust was built with the workforce and between the workforce and the customer by aligning everyone behind a common goal of creating value. Engagement and communication was at multiple levels and with multiple parties - workforce / customer / customer consultants / Broadspectrum Senior Management each with needs and requirements to be met. Structured Change was able to bring their Change Management ethos and Leadership to achieve sufficient common ground around value for all parties to enable the contract and the customer to move forward on their transformation journeys.

UGL is a market leader in end-to-end asset solutions. The company works across a number of different sectors, including engineering, manufacturing, construction, and asset management. Martin joined UGL Unipart as General Manager in 2014, with the goal of improving the company’s relationship with key government customers. Through the use of effective asset management, he was able to reconnect customers to UGL Unipart and establish beneficial long-term working relationships. Due to his success in the General Manager’s role, Martin was promoted to Acting CEO, where he steered the company to win a $170 million contract. After setting UGL up for a bright financial future, Martin felt it was the right time to start his own business, and went on to found Structured Change.
