  In May 2007, several local artists from the Martinez Arts Association formed a cooperative to open an art gallery in the heart of downtown Martinez, housed in the historic Sharkey Building adjacent to the County Courthouse. Anyone visited the gallery saw a variety of artworks; from painting, photography, and ceramics to woodworking, jewelry, and fabric art, and had the opportunity to meet and chat with one of the artists, as the gallery was staffed by those who exhibit their work. It is with much sadness we announce the closing of the MAA Martinez Gallery on Court Street. After operating 10 years through the generosity of local property owners, our lease is finally up.
