  As a watch manager on an operational fire station I am responsible for ensuring that the competencies of the fire fighters on my watch are maintained ensuring they act in a professional and safe manner whilst carrying out their duties. In order to achieve this I deliver lectures and organise specific training to meet the needs of all personnel, often using outside venues for which I must produce current risk assessments. I am responsible for the health, safety and welfare for all personnel who are on the fire station, whether they are employed by TWFRS or other organizations. I am responsible for ensuring that all equipment used by station personnel is regularly maintained and in a serviceable state or defected when necessary. I am responsible for ensuring the targets that are produced by TWFRS, and the Government, are met on a monthly and annual basis. I regularly interact with members of the public whilst carrying out Home Safety Checks, Site Specific Risk Information gathering inspections and Fire Safety Inspections ensuring the information gathered and supplied is of the highest standard.   I was responsible for teaching fire fighters, including those from abroad, in road traffic collision and heavy road traffic collision whilst at the Brigade’s Training Centre. I was also responsible for assisting in developing these courses ensuring personnel had the most up to information regarding vehicle design ensuring the courses being delivered were taught to the highest standards.

  I was responsible for training offshore and merchant marine personnel in fire safety to OPITO and STCW standards. I assisted in developing courses and was responsible for maintaining Interspiro Escape Breathing Apparatus sets used by the learners.
