We recently commissioned Meta Creative to create a concept and design for one of our customers. The designs were with us in a couple of days and were of excellent quality and followed the customer's instructions perfectly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Meta Creative and we are looking forward to working with them again.

Grafmarine is an innovative technology company developing innovative renewable energy products into the marine and other associated markets through our Energy Nano Deck System®. After winning Innovate UK competition funding, we have been working with a number of leading commercial and academic partners to develop a new, and market leading range of products that will allow the maritime industry to meet worldwide legislation on Zero carbon emissions by 2040. Under simulation we have demonstrated a 10% marine fuel saving on an oil tanker, which can be 10-15 tonnes of fuel a day. We have now successfully gained our second patent and have additional IP under development for novel composite designs and further enhanced design for the management and distribution of energy. We now have an advanced prototype under testing and we are now working with the ORE for offshore testing. We are based in Manchester and at M-Sparc in Anglesey. We have now worked with x7 UK catapult centres for different development phases to get towards commercialisation. We have also engaged with Graphene Manchester as a Tier 2 partner in the design of novel electrical storage and propulsion technologies. We are now actively engaging with the maritime industry in customer discovery to finalise our prototypes for testing with a wide variety of pilot projects. Earlier this year, our investor Richard increased his financial commitment to invest over £1m which has allowed us to increase our team and expand our prototype programme. We are a short-listed finalist for Innovation award with the Welsh Government 2021. Grafmarine have been selected to work with the Faraday Investment Programme in March 2022, to further develop value around battery commercialisation. We are also working with the Henry Royce Institute to look into circular economy and bio-plastics, linking into another project with Circular Revolution, working across several UK Universities looking into circular economy business models. Ayreco - Green hydrogen energy on-the-go. We are on the edge of enforced industrial change from fossil fuels due to climate change. Ayreco have always believed hydrogen is to be a huge part of our energy future, our products will enhance the adoption of hydrogen fuel technologies by providing a further integrated approach through new materials. With early interest from two of the UK's luxury car brands, Ayreco is looking to functionalise transport structures to become energy-creating surfaces, multi-purpose and adaptable to produce hydrogen energy, through novel carbon-based structures. This is done by harnessing the immediate environmental conditions and creating and storing low volume hydrogen. We have successfully applied for ERDF funding to work with Manchester Fuel Cell Centre, CPI and Teesside University towards early feasibility and production of a prototype. Show less

Our climate is changing, and we can no longer rely on some of the crop growing systems we have relied upon in the past. UK food is the most processed in Europe, it lacks nutrition and very often, it travels many miles. Added to this, the UK will have to manage the loss of EU workers and disruption of supply caused by COVID and Brexit. Ampode are looking to develop new advanced materials for increased crop production. By using cutting edge technology to extend the UK growing season and increase yields for horticultural crops, Ampode will address the disruption caused by climate change and labour and supply issues caused by the UK leaving the EU. Ampode have worked with CPI Catapult to look into new materials for crop growing where currently worldwide, single use agri-plastics are being disposed of at a rate of 6-8 million tonnes per year. We are looking to reduce pesticides using new materials and science. Our ambition is to provide the UK with the ability to provide full food security through these increasingly challenging times. We have been in talks with leading academic groups for feasibility for development these new materials at Exeter and Cambridge Universities. We have interest for testing of these materials through Tatton Group in Cheshire. Ampode has been selected to be part of Sci-tech Daresbury's Future Club in 2022. A programme set up for engaging potentially rapid growth companies. Ampode are now also in talks for potential project work with the world's largest food and beverage producer and, with a photonics project with a leading international institute for other materials projects. Being selected as part of Future Club has also enabled an early feasibility project with Hartree/IBM in Daresbury. Show less

We need new set of tools beyond current NHS wound care dressings and established pathways of treatment for diabetes and diabetic foot ulcers (dfu). We all have the equal right to health treatment, but the financial burden to provide within our health systems is now under pressure, diabetes poses a threat to the young as well as the elderly and will have cost the NHS £100K by the time you have read this. GrafMed’s materials have the ability to memory self-shape-change to prevent the formation of diabetic foot ulcers. Our new supportive materials include graphene and can be fully recycled to core components after use. GrafMed medical devices can help the 7,000 people in the UK who need amputations each year and cost the UK NHS over £1bn. We began our development work with CPI and University of Durham and were selected as one of a number of three CPI ERDF projects from fifty suitable for further DeepTech development. We are based at Alderley Park in Cheshire after completing the Accelerator programme in 2019. Post-COVID, we are now working with Manchester University, and were selected to successfully work with a leading EU University in Belgium through the MATMED programme. The latest prototypes are being developed by Manchester University successfully applied and funded through the R&I Accelerator Programme. We have the support of Salford and Manchester Health Authorities through Dr Adrian Heald, NIHR and Health Innovation Manchester in providing patient feedback into new prototypes into 2023. Show less

Meta Creative have over 20 years' experience in providing design and marketing support for new products and services. We have worked for several years with innovative manufacturing product developers and award winning manufacturers IMC in North Wales, to launch their new Bar, Kitchen and highly innovative environmental composting and food recycling products internationally. Over many years Meta has worked with pharmaceutical companies with project work for Novartis, Roche, Astra Zeneca and Siemens, as well as medical writers and publishers in the medical sector. With our AV partners we have worked for Shell providing AGM exhibition graphics and production for over 4 years as well as direct mail for over 200 businesses for MBNA during the credit boom, including the first SonyCard branding. Meta also did work for an agency in providing winning pitch branding work for the first Hard Rock Casino outside America in the Printworks Manchester, which went on to become a chain of casinos in the UK. Our focus over the last three years is around legacy client work as we support the new business development of Grafmarine. Show less

Faberled was formed for the delivery of LED lighting when interest grew in the UK around this time. I spent time with a Chinese manufacturer based in the UK and brought in technical knowledge through an award winning startup business. We built up some market knowledge and realised that the mass market was moving too quickly to get a foothold in the UK so I tried to launch in Spain through contacts but the finance was too risky for volume supply. We went on to design approved lighting for Manchester Cathedral's proposed library renovation, with the Dean, introducing one of the World’s first known applications of graphene oxide in our design for lighting materials. We also designed bespoke lighting for a £2m+ proposal for P&O Ferries for initially up to 23 ships through our contacts at Burgess Marine in Poole. Our proposal was shortlisted at board level but not successful as it only provided a saving of 4-7% of energy use against the use of bio-fuels which could save around 10-15% of costs. Our proposal would be mothballed for at least three years which proved too much for a small SME after the time and resource we had put in. I would take this knowledge from the marine industry and graphene into a new venture: Grafmarine. Show less
