  As The study nurse for KEMRI- PTBi program I am a part of the team offering support to improve maternal and newborn health with a focus on Emergency and Obstetric and newborn care and the referral system. These include providing guidance, trainings, support and serve as a role model for the trainee. This is a 3 year implementation science study to decrease the burden of preterm births and associated deaths in Migori County. PTBi activities are funded by The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Work together with ministry of health and private hospitals staff in Migori County to meet PTBI program goals of reducing preterm mortality. • Represent program at stakeholder meetings and technical working groups in relation to MNCH and related technical areas. • Plan monitoring of study sites, both intervention and control and provide supervisory support to ensure compliance to GCP, study protocols and SOPS. • Promote data review of the various mentoring and quality improvement approaches to ensure continuous provision and quality improvement. • Writing the program monthly work plans. • Mentor facility staffs on proper documentation. • Prepare and submit periodic reports as required to track study progress and identify any issues. • Ensure facilities have the required equipment’s and commodities to offer high quality MNCH services • Develop standard operating procedures for different activities • Plan, coordinate and supervise activities of team members. • Ensure safety and availability of relevant study tools in the study sites. • Participate in Monitoring and evaluation of the project implementation activities and address any matters arising accordingly. • Ensure accurate records and reports and maintain their safety as required. • Coordinate the follow up of enrolled preterm to the study end points.
