      Dr Martin Bratschi is a trained epidemiologist and microbiologist working both in the Health System Support Unit (SYSU) of the Swiss Centre for International Health (SCIH) and in the Ecosystem Health Sciences Unit of the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health (EPH) at Swiss TPH. He is trained and has experience in the design, coordination and implementation of epidemiological field research and surveys as well as the management and analysis of data including geographic information systems. He also has solid experience in field compatible as well as laboratory tests for the diagnosis of neglected tropical and mycobacterial diseases - especially Buruli ulcer, leprosy and yaws - in low resource settings. He is experienced in the training and supervision of field and laboratory research personnel and has facilitated research through collaboration and communication with NGOs and national, regional and local government staff. During the course of his PhD entitled “Epidemiology of Buruli ulcer in the Mapé Basin of Cameroon”, he has built up and managed a new field research site to investigate various aspects of the epidemiology and transmission of Buruli ulcer and he has acquired scientific publication skills.
