Careers Coordinator

Aug 2016 - Sep 2018
Through researching best practice in careers education, I confidently advised senior leaders on the development of a whole school careers strategy and drafted the school’s first careers policy. I presented the careers strategy to Ofsted during the school’s first inspection, helping the academy achieve Outstanding judgements in every category. In the subsequent report, Ofsted described the careers programme as “well designed and effectively integrated into the curriculum.”In coordinating the implementation of the careers strategy, I established a Year 10 work experience programme, worked with external stakeholders to deliver career insight talks and employability workshops, created lesson plans and resources and supported students at risk of becoming NEET (not in education, employment or education). I also secured £15’000 funding to establish the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at the school across Years 10 – 13. This included successfully leading two residential expeditions involving over 20 Year 10 students.
