  PhD student and research assistant in the laboratory of Professor Joseph Curran. The group studies global and specific regulation in translation initiation in mammalian cells. It is a key step in the regulation of cell growth, dysfunctions of the translational machinery are associated with many human tumours. My PhD project was focused on one interesting gene called TP53BP1, the binding protein-1 of the tumour suppressor p53.   The MSc course (Molecular Biology and Genetics) was entirely taught in English and included a two year internship in a research laboratory. I spent two years in the Experimental Neurobiology laboratory, led by Professor Cristina Cereda, at the National Institute of Neurology Foundation “Casimiro Mondino” in Pavia, Italy. The institute is a national hospitalization institution, national landmark for the neurological diseases, aimed at healing and diagnosing neurological disorders. Thesis Project : Next Generation Sequencing analysis of putative mutations in genes involved in Familial Hemiplegic Migraine.
