As the President and owner of Cal-Cert, I've managed numerous projects involving metrology. I've performed calibration of instruments in several disciplines including Mechanical, dimensional, electrical and thermal, for over 25 years. My education and training prepared me for this role and has proven valuable in Cal-Cert’s tremendous success. Since my purchase of Cal-Cert in 1999, I've grown this business of nearly 40 years by more than 750%. This growth involved writing a quality Management system to meet ISO/IEC 17025 and implementing it throughout the company. I transformed Cal-Cert’s field calibration business service into Oregon and Washington to a national service provider. We currently have market share in 36 states and international locations. In addition, I operate a full service ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory in Portland, Oregon. The accreditation through the International Accreditation Service, (IAS) has provided numerous exposures to metrology related requirements. I have extensive knowledge of fixed and mobile laboratory quality control requirements’ including testing equipment and laboratory accreditation such as AASHTO, A2LA, NAVLAP, IAS, NADCAP and NQA1. As a member of several ASTM committee’s, I have been instrumental in assisting colleagues with standard revisions. I sit on the National Precast Concrete Association (NPCA) Quality assurance committee where I have been instrumental in assisting them to receive their ISO/IEC Guild 65 accreditation. Cal-Cert provides accredited calibrations to numerous industries such as Construction materials, Departments of Transportation laboratories, wood products, university engineering labs, aviation and manufacturing companies. Cal-Cert also perform on-board ship instrument calibrations for the U.S Navy and Coast Guard. Cal-Cert employs 16 calibration technicians throughout the US. Many of which have in excess of 20 years of metrology experience.
