At this interdisciplinary design studio, I worked with a strong focus on research. Special field of interest: how to move from a devastating polluting fashion industry, towards a sustainable one, so clothes can be safe to be worn without compromising on environmental aspects of the production process. The combination of my previous studies; Cultural Sciences at the Faculty of Arts and Culture + the Design Academy Eindhoven makes me a research-focused designer/ a design- focused researcher. Human-centred and sustainable-driven motives form a link between my work; from teaching; to new sustainable fashion proposals. The common territory is sustainable fashion and cultural identity. The Architecture of Prints. An alternative approach towards pattern, shape and print design in fashion, to simplify the production process. Within this DYI idea, the pattern and print become one. Each printed fabric has a blue print for two or three different garments. The graphics of the print guide the user; simply cut out your favorite design and without a sewing machine your garment is ready to wear. The collection was shown at FashionClash (2012) + at Passion for Fashion (2014). The Architecture of Prints is featured in Print: Fashion, Interiors, Art. Author: Simon Clarke Publisher: Laurence King Publishing Date of release: September 30, 2014 ISBN-10: 1780671679 \ ISBN-13: 978-1780671673 MinMinPlus. While over-production of clothing is a global problem, on an individual level we all have too many garments that are threated like disposable products. Many of us have more than one coat matching different circumstances. As weather, occasions and taste naturally develop over time, it is likely that one coat, despite in a good condition, will no longer be worn. I suggest we replace many coats with one modular design. One basic coat module and many coat parts which can be used to create and recreate the coat, again and again. A coat that grows along with you. A coat that’s worth keeping. Show less
