Building on my affinity with microbiology and wanting to comprehend the underlying immunology behind vaccinations, I wrote my literature thesis about "Enhancing the immunogenicity of the HIV-1 Env-based SOSIP BG505.664 vaccine by adjuvants mimicking T cell help in a T cell-independent manner." Obtained grade: 8.5 Building on my affinity with microbiology and wanting to comprehend the underlying immunology behind vaccinations, I wrote my literature thesis about "Enhancing the immunogenicity of the HIV-1 Env-based SOSIP BG505.664 vaccine by adjuvants mimicking T cell help in a T cell-independent manner." Master internship
-
Nov 2016 - Oct 2017
During my final master internship on immunology, I worked on fine-tuning Factor H regulatory activity on host and bacterial surfaces. This was under the supervision of: Anna van Beek, Dr. D. Wouters, and Prof. dr. T.W. Kuijpers. Obtained grade: 8.0. Techniques used: ELISA (incl. cross-reactivity & complement binding assays), FACS, confocal microscopy, widefield microscopy, protein engineering, protein purifcation by HPLC, immunofluorescence, hemolytic assays, SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, gel electrophoresis, immunoprecipitation, and more.
