    • Master Student
      • Jan 2016 - Dec 2017

I did my Masters degree in Nutrition. The title of my thesis was "Sodium content of processed foods frequently consumed by children in early childhood development centres in the North-West Province".I'm very passionate about nutrition, especially nutrition during childhood. We have identified a gap in research about what food children frequently consume, and the healthiness of these foods were questionable. Therefore we have continue with this study.

The aim was to develop and validate the standard operating procedure for testing the sodium content in processed foods. This included comparing the sodium content of processed foods prior to the R.214 sodium regulation targets (2016) to the sodium content in processed foods after the implementation of the R.214 sodium regulation targets in 2016.The same sodium analysis was used in my M.Sc. degree. This is a complex analysis that is seen as one of the most reliable ways to identify the sodium content in most processed foods. Show less
