  As a production engineer, I worked with the Heinola Fluting Mill's chemical balances and waste water management. Additionally I took part in some of the development projects around the mill, focusing on improving the safety, reliability and productivity of the mill. I went through plenty of training programs while in Stora Enso, though most of the things I did on a daily basis was a product of learning by doing.   In my master's thesis I explored the constructional potential of desulfurization slag, reinforced with mineralized carbon dioxide. In my tests I managed to produce slag bricks with similar attributes to ordinary cement. Naturally the greatest difference was that instead of causing carbon dioxide emissions as byproduct, I used it to create calcium carbonate crystals, whilst stabilizing the slag's expansive tendency.   I continued where I left off in 2016. Since I already knew the basics for the job at the beginning, I had a chance to learn in a more detailed manner about the chemistry behind pulp bleaching.   In this job I was responsible for monitoring and helping with the issues regarding the chemical wastewater treatment plant as well as the bleaching and oxidation processes. This included sample collecting and occationally locking pumps and valves with a help from PI-diagram to make sure certain repairworks are safe to perform. Additionally I helped the process operators with the pulping process whenever I could.
