Master Student of Leiden University. The topic of my Master thesis was 'Perceptions of Magic in Early Modern Orthodoxy:Witchcraft and Tolerance in Orthodox Greek Communities', where I researched the the historical religious and esoteric narratives of Eastern Orthodoxy in the Early Modern Period as reflections of the hegemonic discourse. Furthermore, I focused on the the social and political context, as well as on the role of institutional and popular religiosity for its articulation. Last but not least, I studied the cultural frames and value systems, within which the esoteric practices were formulated and developed, while avoiding falling into the trap of essentialism, as well as without ignoring the centrality and influence of the structural factor in the construction of a historical narration.
