The SPD Vanadium Project is located in the Limpopo Province of South Africa near the town of Steelpoort. A known area of significant community unrest. In my ‘in-country oversight’ capacity I assisted in navigating our way through a scoping study which included over 6,000m of drilling with 2 x DD and 1 x RC rigs as well as a three-month helicopter-borne diamond rig drilling targets in otherwise inaccessible areas. With excellent community liaisons, we didn't lose a single production shift and the results of the drilling modified the inferred resource to the largest high-grade indicated V2O5 resource on the planet. Managing the various study teams to meet regulatory requirements, as well as the oversight of the geological teams, have all formed part of a busy last 18 months.
