Mark is running one of the special venues we have here in Devon - the Deer Park Hotel. Before he took over I remember it as a tired, old hotel which was 'ok'. He has injected his personality, passion and professionalism into it and literally transformed it. Its unrecognisable. From treehouses you can stay in, to a fleet of vintage cars there is always something new he's come up with each time I go. I hold a number of our business events here and will continue to do so as nothing is too much trouble for his team and it also has that touch of class that many other venues don't have. I'm super glad that my brother in law has chosen to get married here. What a great choice :)

Mark Shepherd

Mark is the most considered, genuine and thoughtful person whom I have worked with, his commitment and personal investment to do the right thing for the good of all is second to none!

I managed the property through a major development and repositioning project which included 45 luxury residential homes, health spa, waterfront alfresco bistro, and full refurbishment of the Hotel. Amazing finished product which gained 4 stars and 2 rosettes. The Hotel was in a loss making situation and had been for a number of years, the team needed strong leadership and direction. Marketing was not delivering the required positioning and sales were in decline. A rapid turnaround of the sales funnel was required and the repositioning required additional PR and regional activity with the local market and business community. We achieved 3 Rosettes and were proud winners of the Johanssens "most excellent service" award. The hotel showed a profit in the first year of my management.
