Developed and acquired a list of 20 books annually. Built new lists in Native American and Indigenous studies and environmental history from the ground up. Expanded UNC Press’s regional interest list by developing new “Southern Gateways Guides” line. Worked cooperatively with three other university presses to secure an Andrew W. Mellon Foundation grant for the “First Peoples: New Directions in Indigenous Studies” initiative. Collaborated with colleagues and external partners to secure and implement an Andrew W. Mellon Foundation grant for the “Publishing the Long Civil Rights Movement” project.

Successfully oversaw the publication of The Encyclopedia of North Carolina, a major multi-year project resulting in an authoritative one-volume encyclopedia for the state of North Carolina. Also initiated and managed publication process for the New Encyclopedia of Southern Culture (2006-2013), working in association with partners at the Center for the Study of Southern Culture, University of Mississippi.
