I have built on my passion for developing and coaching staff to develop and deliver an outstanding training experience for staff from a range of leading companies. Most recently, I developed and delivered a 3-week graduate programme for a leading German Investment Bank. The courses covered Agile life-cycle, DevOps, Cloud technologies and an introduction to Machine Learning. This is the first time this firm has offered a graduate programme in these areas and feedback was extremely positive.I have also been responsible for writing and delivering the graduate programme of a leading investment management company. This 2-month-long programme covers a range of development tools representing the full application stack (JavaScript, Angular, Oracle, Java, Spring, Spring Boot, MyBatis, Node.js). We refresh the course every few months, with recent refreshes focusing on expanding the material on testing, covering TDD, BDD, automated e2e testing and requirements for CI/CD.In addition to training, I have created and maintained the ROI Virtual Classroom. RVC delivers a branded, clientless virtual desktop environment. Apache Guacamole provides the remote desktop gateway and virtual desktops are hosted on Google Cloud Platform. Technologies are Java, MySQL and AngularJS.ROI is an industry leader in creating customised technology and business training for clients.

I played a key role in a complete re-definition of the Finance platform: this work covered all business functions and all aspects of the Finance stack. In addition, I took specific responsibility for the Business Unit Control (aka Product Control) toolset. The new architecture was required to meet ambitious business and technical goals, including:• Supporting business functions that had previously been conducted wholly on spreadsheets and other tactical tools.• Increasing standardisation of business functions to allow re-deployment of core finance roles to lower skilled teams, including offshore.• Responding to a challenging regulatory and statutory environment, especially the Volcker Rule and requirements for full revaluation of derivatives at independent market prices.• Moving to a new project delivery approach.• Increasing the use of discrete components.• Handling vastly increased data volumes through novel techniques and reducing data duplication.Highlights of my role included:• Working with Business Architects to define business functions and core data elements.• Definition of the new architectural components and delivery of the first versions through the BUC Daily P&L process.• Further development and extension of the components by integrating them into a wide range of other projects, including Independent Price Verification (IPV) and Balance Sheet Substantiation.• Training off-shore teams in aspects of the new architecture and working with them to create and make use of re-usable components.• Establishing and maintaining a Design Authority for Finance Technology projects.• Working to establish a clear and consistent approach to Volcker Rule implementation.Technical highlights:• Leading the evaluation and adoption of data virtualisation and federation techniques, which we combined with a data dictionary to ensure cross-project consistency.• Selection of XACML as the authorisation standard to permit attribute based authorisation.
